The Living Well is kicking off our October Healing in Community sessions with tools and resources for self care and strategies to reduce and negotiate toxic stress. If you are challenged by environmental stressors such as community trauma, hypertension, obesity and or a lack of connection with the community, we invite you to participate in this month’s Mindfulness programs. Dress in your most comfortable workout or yoga gear.  You don’t need a mat, we have one waiting for you to enjoy.  


Healing Yoga with Tameka

Tameka’s unique yoga practice focuses on awareness of beneficial breath through meditation leading to a Vinyasa that is full of modifications for beginners and those beginning again. Hike & Heal

Hike & Heal is a time for women to explore new paths in the woods and in their feminine wellness. At the halfway point in the hike we take a quick refresher break and Sunny Majeedah leads a discussion on various hormone balance, pelvic health and self-care focused issues.

This session will help participants with strategies to reduce stress while building a meditation practice.  Meditation is an evidence based that if practiced regularly reduces blood pressure and increases mental focus.  Meditation also helps to control anxiety and slows down the aging of the brain.  For youth, it helps to build emotional awareness and reduces hyper-activity.

Reuda de Casino Afro Cuban Dance Class

Rueda de Casino Baltimore, one the most exciting and well-known social afro latin dance schools will have weekly Cuban Style Salsa Dance classes. Anyone interested in learning Cuban Salsa, correctly referred as Casino, that can be done one on one with a partner or in a “rueda” (Spanish term meaning wheel) with a group of people which takes the enjoyment of this dance to another level.

You will be taught the most basic and fundamental elements, principles and moves of the dance, musicality along with important cultural aspects of Cuban music and dance. Learning Cuban Style will also help you be able to adapt to any style of salsa and will give you exposure on how to dance Son and Cha Cha.
