The Black Canni
The Black Canni is a two (2) day convening of Black-led cannabis healers, innovators, cultivators, business owners, and policymakers. This forum holds a safe space to have honest conversations about the global history of cannabis and its disposition, criminalization, and stigmatization; its current role in health and healing; and its multiple implications in the production and sustainability of hemp products.
The Black Canni is a movement and community of cannabis growers, enthusiasts, change makers, innovators, and educators.
Conscious Expansion
If you are interested in building your cannabis platform, integrating healing services, learning about the risks and adverse effects for youth, and cultivating and manufacturing hemp-derived products. If you are a mental health provider or health practitioner interested in deepening your knowledge about using cannabis as a healing herb or want to advocate for social equity policy in Maryland, please join our discussion circles.
Soulful Expression
This is not your traditional conference. The Black Canni is a safe space for authentic discussions about topics once deemed taboo and stigmatized by the larger society, making it unsafe for the imagination and activation of the reclamation of cannabis in the Black community.
Optimal Wellness
Cannabis and hemp offer a range of health benefits and applications, from therapeutic uses of cannabinoids for different medical conditions to the nutritional and industrial uses of hemp-derived products.
Continued research into the potential health effects of cannabis compounds is promising and exciting. The Living Well is partnering with Tetragram to conduct a survey focused on the impact of cannabis use on managing autoimmune conditions in people of color. Come and share your experience with using cannabis as a tool for pain management, anxiety, and sleep challenges.
Seed Bank Exchange
Seed trade is a vital practice for achieving food sovereignty. It empowers communities to control their food sources, preserves biodiversity, supports resilience in climate change, and fosters cultural and economic empowerment. By engaging in seed trade, communities secure their food systems and reinforce their independence, sustainability, and cultural heritage.
The Black Canni is hosting a Seed Trade on Oct. 5th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. This trade is free to Baltimore City Farmers and co-op Baltimore City Community Gardens members with the contribution of dried seeds. Please RSVP using this link only. Your name will be placed on the Seed Trader guest list to attend the Black Canni on Oct. 5th only.
